Air Arabia named 'low-cost carrier of the year'

Sharjah's budget carrier Air Arabia has been named "Low-Cost Carrier of the Year" at the Aviation Business Awards 2007 in Dubai.

The award is given to the low cost carrier that has "demonstrated world-class service across the region over the past year".

Adel Ali, Air Arabia's Chief Executive Officer, was named airline CEO of the year.

"This award comes in recognition of our operational excellence, outstanding service and competitively priced fares. We are very pleased to have won this award," Ali said.

Air Arabia has embarked on an extensive expansion programme in 2007, with the purchase of up to 49 new Airbus A320 aircraft.

The airlines will also open a second hub in Rabat, Morocco and has recently added more destinations and flights across South Asia and the Middle East. ( Gulf )
