TechArt 997 Turbo Cabriolet Debut in Essen

( Worldcarfans ) - Earlier this year, Birmingham ballistic boy, Nick Hall, provided WCF with a test drive of the scorching TechArt 997 Turbo equipped with the 580hp T2 engine performance kit. But the Leonberg based tuning house has turned the boost up even more - this time turning attention towards the slightly heavier 997 Turbo Cabriolet. TechArt hooked up the 3.6-liter flat-six with their T3 kit to produce an additional 50hp over the coupe to 630hp / 463kW through larger turbos, carbon air intake, sport air filter, custom fabricated intercoolers and stainless steel exhaust with special exhaust manifold and high-flow catalytic converters. The result is a 0- 100 km/h of 3.5 seconds - the same as the coupe despite the additional weight. Top speed ironically increases 7 km/h to 345 km/h (214mph) as a result of wind tunnel testing the aerodynamic body package. With the beefier Aerokit II, which resembles the GTStreet kit in appearance, buoyancy over the front axel is reduced and downforce is increased over the rear axel while simultaneously sending additional cooling to the brakes and intercoolers. Making its public debut at the Essen Motor Show on November 30th, Nick can give us his first impressions.
