Terms Established for Azerbaijani-German Inter-Governmental Consultations

Azerbaijan, Baku / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / Azerbaijan and Germany have agreed on terms to hold inter-governmental consultations in Baku on 27 and 28 November, the Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development reported. Yurgen Tsol, head of the regional Department on Work with Caucasus, Middle Asia and CIS Countries, will lead the German delegation to Azerbaijan.

During the meeting, delegates are expected to discuss ways to finance projects in the energy, ecology, and communal infrastructure spheres.

The consultations will be held in association with the next Azerbaijani-German inter-governmental negotiations. The previous meetings were held in Bonn on 14 August 2006. Germany also intends to specify the amount of financial and technical assistance to be provided by the German Bank of Reconstruction (KFW) and the German Technical Assistance company (GTZ) in 2008.

According to a signed agreement reflecting the results of the most recent Azerbaijani-German negotiations, approximately € 9mln privilege credits have been allocated to Azerbaijan, with € 5mln designated to implement technical projects, within the terms of financial cooperation.

Since the beginning of this cooperation, the volume of financial assistance rendered to Azerbaijan by the German Bank of Reconstruction has totaled €150mln.
