Azerbaijani Labor Ministry Call Employers to Participate in Labor Fairs in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend S.Babayeva / The labor fair will be held in Baku for people in seeking jobs in Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Labor and Social Security Ministry said on 26 November.

The Department regularly carries out labor fairs to reduce the number of unemployment in the country under the state program covering the period 2007-2011. The 2-day fair will be held in Baku on 6-7 December.

Presently, the Department is receiving applications from companies or employers who are interested in participating in the fair.

"We call companies to take an active part in the fair, because it is also in their favour to select necessary specialists," the Labor Ministry said.

In total, 54 fairs have been held in cities and districts in Azerbaijan, including the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic since May of 2007.

According to the State Statistics Committee, in January to September officially registered unemployed people comprised 51,300 people, with 50.5% of them being women. Generally there are 4 people applying for the same job in Azerbaijan. Unemployment allowance has been given to 1,400 people in Azerbaijan during this period. The minimum amount of this allowance was AZN 24 during 6 months of 2007.
