Insufficiency in Specialists Hinders Construction in Azerbaijan: Expert

Azerbaijan, Baku / corr Trend U.Ismayilova / The construction sector of Azerbaijan suffers of insufficiency of qualified specialists, Tehran Isgandarov, a senior specialist of the State Agency for Standardization, Metrology and Patent, said.

"Though there is a construction boom in Azerbaijan, absence of personnel impedes the construction," Isgandarov said.

In August a new multi-storey building collapsed in Baku. The specialists working in the scene of incident, said that one of reasons for the collapse was the poor quality construction materials. As a result, measures towards the participants in the construction market were toughened.

Isgandarov said that afterwards many companies involved in manufacturing construction materials closed down themselves. Some companies began establishing their laboratories on the examination of materials of own production.

"Those which do not have any opportunity to establish their laboratories, mostly due to absence of specialists, conclude contracts with the Ministry of Emergency Situations for analysis of materials at the Ministry's laboratory," he said

The companies with good financial opportunities purchase expensive equipment for production of high quality cement, enabling to manufacture cement of 200-300 brands. They cannot effectively manage the materials due to absence of specialized personnel," Isgandarov said.
