Meetings of Azerbaijani and Belarus Businessmen Held in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku, 10 January / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / The Belarus delegation headed by Nadejda Kotkovetsk, the first Deputy Agricultural and Foodstuff Minister, will visit the Azerbaijan, the Azerbaijani Export and Investment Promoting Company (AZPROM) reports. The delegation unites the 15 businessmen, who will take part in the Azerbaijani-Belarus business-conference on 11 January. Thirty Azerbaijani enterprises are expected to take part in the forum. Niyazi Safarov, the Deputy Minister of Economic Development, will attend the forum from the Ministry.

The mutual relations have been expanded between the countries, recently. However, the current trade turnover does not reflect the real economic potential of the bilateral relations. The trade turnover between the countries exceeded five times for the latest five years and made up $66.9mln, some $65.3mln from the import.

The relevant direction of the bilateral economic cooperation creates favorable conditions for the functioning of the joint ventures. At present, 12 firms have been registered in the Azerbaijani Republic in collaboration with the Belarusian companies. The cooperation between the machine building plant of the Baku worker and Belarus company, on the joint production of the drilling equipment of oil and gas wells, is carried out. The Azerbaijani International Bank opened the corresponding accounts in order to credit the export-import operations.
