IMF to view Azerbaijan’s Conformity to Article 4

Azerbaijan, Baku, 11 January /corr. Trend I. Khalilova / The International Monetary Fund (IMF) plans to review the conformity of Azerbaijan to Article 4 of the IMF Establishment Agreement at the end of February or the early March, Emin Huseynov, the director of the Statistics and Analysis Department of the National Bank of Azerbaijan (NBA), said.

The consultations will be held with the Government during the visit of Fund's mission headed by Vitali Kramarenko, the IMF Deputy Director for Near East and Central Asia. The consultations are held annually in all member states of IMF within the framework of Article 4.

The main purpose is to assess the short-term and long-term tasks of the Government on economic development and to discuss structural changes, as well.

At the end of the visit, the mission usually develops a report which is later submitted to the consideration of the IMF's Board of Executive Directors.

The Azerbaijani government has cooperated with IMF for 3 years holding consultations within the framework of Article 4. The perspective programs were not discussed during the visits. Moreover, the IMF's technical assistance provided in different directions is also expanded.
