( dpa ) - Iran has declared its readiness to cooperate with the United Nations nuclear watchdog to clarify all outstanding issues within the next four weeks, a senior Iranian nuclear official said Monday.

Mehr news agency quoted Iran's envoy at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) as saying that Iran would do its utmost to remove all remaining ambiguities and settle all outstanding issues.

Ali-Asqar Soltanieh hoped that the move would encourage the IAEA board of governors in the March meeting to bring the Iranian nuclear dossier to a normal course again.

The IAEA said in statement Sunday that some progress had been made in weekend talks in Tehran on Iran's nuclear programme and that both sides aimed to clarify all outstanding issues within the next four weeks.

The main Western demand of Iran is, however, suspension of its uranium enrichment process or else face a third UN resolution and financial sanctions. Tehran has so far rejected this demand.
