Azerbaijan, Baku, 18 January / Trend corr U. Ismayilova / Those, who are employing the illegal migrants, will pay the most maximal fine - AZN 38,500, Nabi Shukurlu, the head of the Labour Inspectorate at the Azerbaijani Labour and Social Protection Ministry said on 15 January.
In December 2007, the Azerbaijani President decreed to increase the fine for the violation of workers' rights from AZN 33-99 to AZN 550-38,500.
According to Shukurlu, now before employing a migrant, employers must connect with the Migration Service to check whether the migrant is registered there.
There are over 10,000 illegal migrants residing and working in Azerbaijan. The number of legal labour migrants in December 2007 made up 1,698, Rauf Tagiyev, the head of the Migration Service said earlier.
