Base Index of Consumer Prices in Azerbaijan Exceeds 10% in 2007

Azerbaijan, Baku, 19 January / Trend corr I. Khalilova / The growth rate of the prices for consumer goods and services made up 2.5% in December 2007, compared to November 2007, and 16.7% in 2007 compared to 2006, the State Statistics Committee reported on 18 January.

The prices for foodstuffs rose by 3.6% in December, for non-goods by 0.9%, for services by 1.7% compared to the previous month.

Compared to 2006, the prices for foodstuffs increased by 16.2%, non-foods by 10.5%, services 25.3%.

The base index of consumer prices, which was calculated without taking into account goods and services depending on seasonal changes (fruits and vegetables) and which prices are managed by the Government, constituted 102% in December, and 110.3% in January to December compared to 2006.
