Australian stocks extend record losing streak

( dpa )- Australian stocks fell 3.6 per cent in early trading Tuesday on weakness in European markets and fears of a recession in the United States.

After the opening bell, the All Ordinaries index gave up 198 points, or 3.6 per cent, to 5,432.

The market has fallen for 12 consecutive days - the longest losing streak in 25 years. It is down more than 20 per cent from its high point on November 1.
