Azerbaijan, Baku, 23 January / corr Trend A.Badalova / In 2007 the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) of Azerbaijan reached AZN 25.2bln compared to AZN 20.5bln in 2006, Arif Valiyev, the chairman of the State Statistics Committee (SSC) said at a news conference on 23 January.
A surprising 59.2% of the total GDP was fixed in industry, 6.2% in agriculture, 7.1% in construction, 5.8% in trade and monetary services, 4.2% in transport, 1.9% in communications, 8.3% in other services and social sector, 7.3% in production and net taxes from import.
In 2007 production amounted to AZN 22.2bln, or 24% more compared to 2006. Last year investments in the construction sector amounted to AZN 6.774.8mln. Exactly AZN 3.615.6mln was spent on construction and assembly work.
In 2007 the Azerbaijani transport system carried 167.3mln tons of cargo and 1.1bln passengers. The amount of cargo deliveries increased by 14.9% and passenger transportation by 8%. Some 16.7% of total deliveries were transported by railway, 48.9% by automobile, and 28.3% by pipelines. Thus, 84% of passengers were transported by automobile transport and 15.3% by metro, he said.
According to Veliyev, in December 2007 the average monthly rate of the US dollar made up AZN 0.85, EUR 1 - AZN 1.23, RUR 100 - AZN 3.44. The average annual rate of USD made up - 0.86, EUR - 1.18, RUR - AZN 3.35.
