Azerbaijan, Baku, 25 January / Trend / Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company (ASCSC) modernizes tanker General Aslanov with a dead-weight tonnage of 12,334, the company said. The second board is being installed in line with the international conventions on navigation.
The company has already equipped tanker Shamkhor with a second board built on the similar project. ASCSC possesses only three that kind of tankers. The tanker Gafur Mammadov will be the next tanker to be modernized.
The tankers working in the Caspian with the double-board can be modernized until 2010. If the ship has the operation life of less than 25 years, the installation of the second board is postponed for a long term.
The Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company currently has 41 tankers in its balance (including water carter). Seven ships out of them which were purchased from the Russia are equipped with the double board and became operational after the modernization (Shamkhor).
