( dpa ) - Tokyo stocks recovered Tuesday morning on an overnight surge in the US market and a weaker yen.
The Nikkei 225 Stock Average jumped 241.16 points, or 1.84 per cent, to 13,329.07.
The broader Topix index of all first-section issues also gained 24.65 points, or 1.91 per cent, to 1,317.68.
On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar was quoted at 106.97-107.02 yen, up from Monday's 5 pm quote of 106.46-48 yen.
The euro was quoted at 1.4784-89 dollars, up from Monday's 5 pm quote of 1.4676-78 dollars, and at 158.18-23 yen, up from 156.25-29 yen.
