Audi RS 6  Avant  aimed at high-performance business class

( dpa )- Audi is bringing out the new RS 6 Avant aimed at the business class sector seeking high-performance combined with comfort and luxury.

With the big engine needing more air to breathe, the intake apertures have been enlarged. The single-frame grille features a high-gloss black guard with a six-cornered diamond-look styling and a red and silver RS 6 logo.

Incorporating what it describes as "winning motor sport technologies", Audi lists the V20 biturbo petrol motor with FSI direct injection with an output of 426 kW/580 hp and torque of 650 Nm.

Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h is in 4.6 seconds with the top speed electronically regulated at 250 km/h. It can be optionally increased to 280 km/h.

Fitted with a sport suspension that includes a fluid-mechanical system called DRC Dynamic Ride Control, the shock absorbers can be adjusted at lightning speed. Damping characteristics can be set to three different levels.

Standard items are 19 inch aluminium wheels with 20 inch rims available as an option.

The contoured sports seats can be electrically set precisely to the desired position and feature an integrated head restraint plus a manually adjustable thigh support. Upholstery comes in a combination of leather and Alcantara , including an embossed RS 6 logo. Options are all-leather upholstery in Silk Nappa or Valcona with colour - contrasting stitching. RS bucket seats are also optionally available.

Initially available only as an Avant the launch on the German market is set for April at 106,900 euros (154,882 dollars).
