Azerbaijan, Baku, 14 March / Trend corr S. Babayeva/ From Jan to Feb 2008, the trade network of Azerbaijan sold consumer goods to the population in sum of AZN 1.495bln, up by 14.5% for the same period of 2007, the Azerbaijan State Statistical Committee reported on 12 March.
Sale of foodstuffs made up AZN 970mln and sale of non-foods amounted to AZN 525.2mln, up by 10.9% and 23.6% respectively from the same period of 2007.
The amount of paid services which have been provided to the population since the beginning of the year comprised AZN 435.6mln, up by 29% from the same period of 2007. Some 75.8% of the services were provided to juridical entities (an increase of 35.6%) and 21.5% to the individuals (an increase of 9.6%).
Juridical entities purchased 15.7% of the retail goods, private entrepreneurs - 45.9%, and individuals - 38.4%.
The number of individuals and juridical entities engaged in trade and services exceeded 250,000 in the Jan-Feb 2008.
