( dpa ) - Tokyo stocks open lower as investors locked in profits from the previous day's gains and a stronger yen.
The Nikkei 225 Stock Average fell 112.42 points in morning trading, or 0.88 per cent, to 12,632.8.
The broader Topix index of all first-section issues was also down 11.82 points, or 0.95 per cent, at 1,231.16.
On currency markets at 9 am (0000 GMT), the dollar was quoted at 100.07-10 yen, down from Tuesday's 5 pm quotes of 100.54-56 yen.
The euro was quoted at 1.5610-15 dollars, up from Tuesday's 5 pm quote of 1.5542-44 dollars, and at 156.20-25 yen, down from 156.26-30 yen.
