Azerbaijan, Baku, 2 April /corr. Trend I.Khalilova / On 17 April, the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Black Sea Economic Co-operation (BSEC) will come together in Kiev due to the completion of Ukraine's chairmanship, the Azerbaijan's Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Mahmud Mammadguliyev, said on 2 April. Azerbaijan will be represented at the meeting by either the Minister of Foreign Affairs- Elmar Mammadyarov or the Deputy Minister.

The chairmanship to BSEC for the next half year will be transferred to Albania. In addition, the meeting will focus on the works done during Ukraine's chairmanship.

At present, the organization covers the issue of regional development, stimulation of the projects and creation of available climate, in accordance with the Co-operation Agreement signed by the BSEC member-countries at the summit which took place in June because of the 15th anniversary of the organization.

There is a need to strengthen the role of BSEC Secretariat to raise the efficiency of organization so that it does not depend upon the chairing country, the Deputy Minister said. For the first time, Azerbaijan has suggested strengthening the role of Secretariat, especially Secretary General, status of officials, and sending many issues to the officials for consideration rather than leaving them for the consideration of the Foreign Ministers.
