Business Materials 3 April 2008 21:30 (UTC +04:00)

Azerbaijan, Baku, 3 April / Trend corr I. Khalilova/ The system of customs tariffs which was adopted in 2001 is still operating in Azerbaijan, but the State Customs Committee has submitted to the Cabinet of Ministers the suggestions on switching to four-level differentiated tariff system.

Since 2001, Azerbaijan has been operating 0%, 0.5%, 1%, 3%, 5%, 10% and 15% tariffs. As a result of the changes, only 0%, 5%, 10% and 15% will remain. Most part of the goods for production purpose (raw materials and equipment) will be free of custom charges.

Within the framework of Azerbaijan's entering the World Trade Organization, the country's custom bodies have to re-view the custom tariffs and introduce a new model, as well as ensure the intellectual property rights.
