Greece to Develop Cooperation with Azerbaijan in Oil Sector – Ambassador Assistant

Azerbaijan, Baku, 15 April / Trend corr. U.Ismayilova / Greece is to cooperate with Azerbaijan in the oil sector sphere, Olga Mezeriada, the assistant of Greek Ambassador in Azerbaijan on Economic Issues, stated during the bussiness meeting between the Azerbaijani and Greek businessmen in Baku on 15 April.

"Up to now Greece has been cooperating with Azerbaijan mainly in the oil sector and oil import from Azerbaijan," Mezeriada said.

The trade turnover between the countries totalled $15.1mln in 2007, $1.6mln fell on import and $13.4mln on export.

Today's the bussiness meeting between the Azerbaijani and Greek businessmen is the first step forward towards cooperation between the countries in the non-oil sector, the Greek Ambassador assistant said. "Our aim is to develop trade relations between Azerbaijan and Greece," Mezeriada stated.

The Azerbaijani and Greek businessmen began joint activity in 2005 and signed three inter-governmental agreements on cooperation within the sphere of mutual investment savings, vehicle transport and customs.
