Azerbaijan, Baku, 16 April / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / It has been observed that there is some increase in the prices for some building materials, especially for concrete. For this purpose the State-run Anti Monopoly Service at the Ministry of Economic Development of Azerbaijan has commenced monitoring over the building sector due to the increase in prices for accommodations. The results of the monitoring will be announced to the end of the week, Heydar Babayev, Minister of Economic Development, stated.

The main attention is paid on the manufacturing of goods. If the goods are imported, then we cannot prevent increase in the prices.

"We cannot dictate to entrepreneurs to sell goods cheaper that it's net cost," the Minister said. If the prices are increasing in the world outlets, then it will definitely affect prices of imported goods. Our task is to mainly supervise and prevent artificial increase in the prices," he noted.

The prices for the building materials marked up by 0.6% in Baku during March. The public organization 'Participants of real estate' held monitoring over 102 varieties of construction materials and of 47 different types. As per the analysis done by this organisation, the share of local building materials made up only 43%.

The prices for building materials have increased by 1.5% since the beginning of this year, compared to the mentioned period in 2007 (9.2%).

The main reason for increase in prices for building materials, according to the experts, is increase in the prices in the world markets and transport expenditures.
