(dpa) - Toyota Motor Corp came out on top
first quarter in worldwide sales, once again putting General Motors Corp in
second place - just as it did in the first quarter last year.
Toyota sold 2.41 million vehicles, a 2.7 per cent gain, in the first three
months of 2008 while GM sales fell less than 1 per cent to 2.25 million,
according to statistics released by automakers and compiled by Bloomberg
financial news service.
Toyota sold 159,000 more vehicles than did GM.
Toyota nearly ousted GM as the world's top seller for all of 2007, missing the
mark by only 3,100 vehicles.
