Azerbaijan, Ganja, 29 April / Trend corr. V.Mammadov, S.Babayeva / Production of wheat is forecast at a volume of 2.3mln tons in Azerbaijan in 2008, Aslan Aslanov, Deputy Agricultural Minister of Azerbaijan, stated.
"Additional grain sowing has been carried out in an area of 134,000 sq. hectares with 114,000 hectares of wheat," Aslanov stated.
In 2008, autumn sowing was carried out in an area of 818,000 sq. hectares with 601,000 hectares of wheat.
According to the Deputy Minister, there is about 600,000 tons of grain storage in the country. The daily demand for grain is 3mln tons.
