Azerbaijani Transport Ministry Signs Contract to Create Intellectual Transport Managing System in Baku

Azerbaijan, Baku, 20 May / Trend / The Azerbaijani Transport Ministry and Korean company SK C & C Co.Ltd.have signed a contract on creation of an efficient transport managing system in Baku, the Ministry reported on 20 May. The contract was signed by the Transport Minister, Ziya Mammadov, and Yo Young Soon, the first Vice President of SK C & C Co.Ltd.

A number of new traffic lights and bus stops will be put into operation, after the introduction of this system. The number of traffic lights and bus stops has been cut as a result of construction of the bridges and pedestrian crossings in Baku. Introduction of such system will enable to fix operative information about vehicles movement, speed, bus stops traffic accidents and many other functions.

The intellectual transport managing system will consist of two stages. Under the first stage, there is plan to introduce the system in the centre of Baku in the direction of Heydar Aliyev Ave to Azizbayov circle to the end of 2008 and the system will cover the whole capital by 2009end. .

The aim of introducing such system is to manage the transport system in Baku - passenger transport, automobile route and many others.

The cost of the project is $55mln or $ 60mln. Previously, the sum was calculated at $52mln. The funds will be allocated from the State Budget and other sources can be attracted as well.
