Lack of Agrarian Specialists in Azerbaijan: Minister

Azerbaijan, Baku, 23 May /corr. Trend S.Babayeva / Today lack of agrarian specialists, especially veterinaries, animal technicians, mechanization experts, is recorded in Azerbaijan, said Ismat Abbasov, Azerbaijan's Minister of Agriculture, on 23 May.

Currently the only higher education institution which trainings agrarian specialists is the Agricultural Academy in Ganja city. Several months ago, the Academy was transferred to ownership of the Agricultural Ministry according to the Presidential order.   

Abbasov said that the lack of interest of the youth in this sphere is also important fact. Such situation is also recorded in the scientific-search institutions of the Ministry.

"We prepared our suggestions and think that next year the Public budget will allocate more funds for these goals. If we want to obtain food security in the Country having enough funds, but not having high-qualified staffs, we will face difficulties," the minister said.

He considers that firstly these institutions should be modernized, and for this purpose, relevant discussions will are being held with the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Finance.

"I am sure that jointly we can achieve modernization of the Academy and scientific-search institutions," the Minister said.
