Opel Inaugurated its New Trade and  Service  Center in   Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 30 May / corr. Trend E. Ismayilov/ The Jahan Holding plans to sell some 200 cars of Opel brand by the end of the year, Vugar Abbasov, the President of Jahan Holding, said in the opening ceremony of the new trade and service center of Opel in Azerbaijan in Baku on 30 May. Jahan Holding plans to increase this figure up to 350-450 cars in 2009. Jahan Motors, included in Jahan Holding, is the official dealer of the General Motors for sale of the Opel cars in Azerbaijan.

According to Abbasov, the new service center in Baku, opened on 30 May, has a staff of some 90 people. The service centers of Opel are expected to be opened in Nakhchivan and Ganja cities of Azerbaijan in two months.

"At present, there are a lot of cars in Baku, economy car and cars with small engine such as Corsa, which is in high demand, are considered to be the strongest car of its kind," said Abbasov.

The cars of Opel brand has the lower price niche while there are maximum number of the technological innovations, Alexander Moinov, the director of the General Motors for sales, marketing and post-marketing in Romania, Bulgaria, Baltic countries and new markets, said in the opening ceremony of the service center of Opel in Baku. According to Moinov, the advantage of Opel is that it is produced in line with the German technology and design, it has high technological characteristics and it is multi-functional as well.

The Astra model of Opel is dominating among other models in Azerbaijan and European market, Moinov said. "The new model of Opel -Insignia is expected to be supplied to Azerbaijan in the first quarter of 2008, on which we have set our high hopes," he said. This model will be the new flagman of Opel which embodies a number of technological innovations.

The stability in the economic development and bank system, high level of oil revenues and large number of old cars played a decisive role in determining the potential of the performance in Azerbaijan, said Kris Lasey, the executive director of General Motors for sales, marketing and post-marketing in Central Asia and Eastern Europe.

The indicator of the development of the country is the wish and purchasing power of the population to buy cars. "It is important to meet demands of the Azerbaijani consumers and we are ready for it," Lasey said.

Jahan Holding is the selling partner of Opel in Azerbaijan.

The models of Opel including Vectra, Astra, Astra (cabriolet), Corsa, Zafira and Tigra were presented in the inauguration ceremony of Opel.
