Azerbaijan, Baku, 12 June /corr. Trend S.Babayeva / As a result of labor fairs in the regions, Azerbaijan's Ministry of Labor and Social Protection provided jobs to 549 people. The Head Employment Department of the Ministry said on 12 June that the fairs were held in Nakhchivan, Gobustan, Neftchala and Dashkesen.
"The fairs will continue by the end of the year like last year," the same source said.
The Ministry stated that in June the labor fairs will take place in Guba (17 June), Oguz (18 June), Sheki and Yardimli (20 June), Akstafa (24 June), Lankaran (25 June), Khizi, Salyan and Gazakh (27 June).
Generally 55 labor fairs are planned to be held in the regions and cities of Azerbaijan, but their number can increase.
In 2007 the Ministry held 57 fairs in 55 regions of Azerbaijan. As a result, 9056 people were provided with jobs.
According to the data by the State Statistics Committee, in January to March, the number of the officially registered unemployed made up 451,300, with 48% woman. In Azerbaijan four people claim for one vacancy.
