Azerbaijan, Iran to Establish Joint Venture on Industry and Agriculture

Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 June / corr. Trend S.Babayeva / Azerbaijan is interested in the use of Iran's experience in agriculture and cattle breeding, Elkhan Aliyev, head of the International Cooperation Department of the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry, said, and now he is visiting the Northwestern Iran, IRNA reported.

"The expansion of exchange of experience and cooperation in economic, agricultural and industrial fields will extend the relations between the countries and assist Azerbaijan in its further development," he said.

According to Aliyev, Azerbaijan is prepared to hold an exchange of experience with Iran in cattle breeding and fruit growing, in forage production, and to establish joint venture in the this field.

The Ministry representative said that other serious problems in agrarian field of the country are the shortage of different seed types, water for cultivation and cold storages.

" Azerbaijan needs 150,000 tons of different seed types every year, whilst our country produces only 15% of this volume," he said.

The delegation of the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry visited Parsabad to get familiar with agricultural experience and Moghan complex.

The Parsabad city has a population of 200,000 people, and is located 240km north of Ardabil and borders with Azerbaijan.
