Total of $1.3bln Required to Restore and to Construct Sewerage Systems in all Territories of Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 July / corr. Trend E.Ismayilov / About $1.3bln are required to restore and construct sewerage system in all territories of Azerbaijan, including Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic according to the preliminary estimations, Nizameddin Rzayev, the head of the Azersu Open Stock Company (OSC), said on 4 July.

At present, about 15-20% of the Azerbaijani regions have sewerage system. In Baku this figure amounts to 70-80%. Districts and villages of Baku of 70-80% do not have sewerage system, Rzayev said.

A total of 115.4km water supplies and 59.8km effluent disposal line will be constructed, 150,000 water meters will be installed, 10,000 cu m of water reservoir will be constructed, as well as, four purification plants with the daily capacity of 235,000 cu m will be installed to improve water and sewer provisions in Baku and in other districts of Azerbaijan. 

Only 200,000 of 500,000 subscribers are provided with meters in Baku. It is planned to install 150,000 meters in 2008 and the work in this direction will be completed in 2009. Providing all Azerbaijani regions with meters will be realized within the framework of the contracts with international finance institutes, Rzayev said..
