Azerbaijan, Baku, 17 July / corr. Trend S.Babayeva / The patent system is unimproved in Azerbaijan because of inactivity of private sector, which hold lion share of production in the country, Miryagub Seyidov, the head of Patent Department of the Azerbaijani State Agency on standardization, metrology and patents, said at the 'International symposium on contemporary management of intellectual property system with the objective to assist in economic, social and cultural development' held in Baku on 16 July.

"Private enterprises do not regard seriously this issue in order to get large profit from business," he said.

According to the representative of the agency, people holding patents, cannot apply them because of unawareness in the field of marketing.

Seyidov believes the enlightenment work in this respect is very weak.

The World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Azerbaijani State Agency for standardization, metrology and patents organized this two-day international symposium and dedicated it to the 15th anniversary of the establishment of the patent system in Azerbaijan.

Specialists from Turkey, Ukraine, Russia, Rumania, Belarus, Georgia and from other foreign countries, as well as, the Azerbaijani entrepreneurs participate in this symposium.
