Azerbaijan, Lankaran, 17 July / corr. Trend P.Aliyeva / Grain production will amount to 4,000 tons in Yardimli District of Azerbaijan in 2008 and this figure is twice more than the volume of production in 2007. Autumn harvest has begun.

Grain was planted at 1,084 h of area in 2007 and this figure amounted to 2,057h in 2008. Wheat takes the biggest part of sowing. The growth of grain production was possible due the measures of the Azerbaijani Government on stimulation of grain crop production in the country.

According to Rasim Isgenderov, the head of Yardimli subsidiary of Aqroservis Open Joint Stock Company, it is impossible to use technology during harvesting because of the mountainous relief. Only two combines operate in the territory. "On the average, harvest was collected from 100h of area, despite of unfavorable weather condition. Productivity grew by 20-25% to 40-42 centners per hectare," he said.

A total of AZN 79,000 of subsidy was allocated to grain producers at the Azerbaijani president's decree in 2007. So far, documents of 1,707 producers have been submitted to the Agriculture Ministry to get next subsidies. They will get about AZN 111,000 from the state.
