E.Ismayilov/ The airports in Lankaran and Zagatala regions in Azerbaijan are expected to be put into operation on 15 and 20 September, Jahangir Askarov, General Director of the AZAL CJSC, said. Lankaran based airport is located in the south and Zagatala based airport in the north-west region in Azerbaijan.
Lankaran based airport's reconstruction is $51.1mln and Zagatala - $27.5mln. AZAL will implement flights from Baku to the aforesaid airports.
The flights will be implemented by airplanes, which were purchased from the French ATR company. At present, Azerbaijan operates five French made airplanes. Flights are implemented within the country - Baku-Nakhichevan and Baku-Ganja, as well as to abroad - Baku-Tbilisi, Baku-Teheran, Baku-Mineral Waters City, Baku-Rostov and others.
Airports' reconstruction is being carried out at the expenses of state budget and AZAL. In 208, some$17.8mln was allocated for Lankaran airport from the state budget and $10.4mln for Zagatala airport. International flights are expected to be implemented from the Lankaran based airport.
