Azerbaijan, Baku, 4 September / Trend corr. L.Abdulazimova /" Azerbaijan and Ukraine intend to bring the trade turnover to $1bln," Boris Klimchuk, Ukrainian Ambassador in Baku, said to journalists.

According to Klimchuk, the trade turnover between the both countries touched its record rate - $485.2mln in the first half of 2008, against $494.8mln in 2007. In 2006, the trade turnover between the countries made up $355mln and $259mln in 2005.

Taking into consideration the trade turnover development rate between Azerbaijan and Ukraine, the President Ilham Aliyev and Viktor Yushenko intend to bring the index to $1bln in 2008.

A lot of Ukrainian state officials and businessmen, who hold negotiations with Azerbaijani state departments and local businessmen, visit Azerbaijan. Owing to development of trade between the countries the gap between import and export has reduced.

According to the Ambassador, a sugar refining plant is expected to be constructed in Azerbaijan, so there appears a possibility to cooperate with Azerbaijani businessmen.

Klimchuk said that Ukraine was ready to deliver Ukraine made products to Azerbaijani market.
