Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 September/ Trend , corr U. Ismayilova/ About 74.1mln tons of cargo has been transported by means of transport of Azerbaijan in January to August of 2008 which is 542.8% more than the same period of 2007, State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan said. The export of cargo made up 67.7mln tons and import - 6.4mln tons during this period.
About 401,900 tons of cargo have been transported by sea, 13.1mln tons by railway, 447,400 by automobile, 2,400 tons by air and 53.6mln tons by pipelines.
About 4.3mln tons of cargo has been transported through Azerbaijani territory as a transit in January to August which is 116.36% or 617,100 tons more than the same period of 2007.
About 1.5mln tons of cargo have been transported to Italy through Azerbaijan, to Switzerland - 1.1mln tons, Georgia - 694,000 tons, Tajikistan - 248,700 tons, Turkey - 155,300 tons, Iran - 167,300 tons, Russia - 114,100 tons, Kazakhstan - 287,000 tons and Turkmenistan - 149,600 tons.
