The Tokyo stock market rose in early trading Tuesday, on the heels of a huge surge in stock prices on Wall Street, reports dpa.
Closed since Friday due to Monday's holiday in Japan, the benchmark Nikkei 225 Stock Average gained 263.35 points, or 3.18 per cent, within the first eight minutes of trading to reach 8,539.78.
Major US stock indices booked gains of more than 11 per cent on Monday, and the New Zealand and Australian markets soared after opening Tuesday.
