Ichari Shahar Metro Station’s Functioning to be Resumed in November
Azerbaijan, Baku, 16 October / Trend corr. Eismayilov/The reconstruction of the Ichari Shahar metro station in Baku will be put into operation on 30 November, a source from the Baku Subway reported.
Before, the station was planned to be opened on 8 November. However, glass dome and new ventilating system were delivered to Baku late due to unstable functioning of the Georgian Poti port (due to the conflict in Georgia). The cargo for the station was delivered via Odessa. For all these reasons opening of the station is delayed.
Metalwares, glass and ventilating system are of the Israeli Khouri company made. The company won the tender, which was announced by Baku Subway.
Before, Ichari Shahar metro station was closed for reconstruction and restoration purpose. At present, the station is being repaired. The outside concrete component will be replaced by glass pyramid. The goal to replace the outside concrete component with glass pyramid is to improve the visibility of the fortress walls of the Old City.
