Kazakhstan, Iran Sign Cooperation Protocol

Kazakhstan, Astana, 17 October / Trend corr. K.Konirova /Serik Ahmatov, the Kazakh Transport and Communication Minister, and Manuchehr Mottaki, the Iranian Foreign Minister, have signed a cooperation protocol as a result of the 10th meeting of the Kazakh-Iranian intergovernmental commission on trade and economic, science and technical and cultural cooperation between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Kazakhstan.

The protocol covers the state and perspectives of the trade and economic cooperation, cooperation in the small and medium business, IT, sports, agriculture, transport and communication, as well as energy issues.

The protocol envisages construction of the Uzen ( Kazakhstan) -Kizilkaya-Barakat-Etrak ( Turkmenistan)-Gorgan ( Iran) railway track, as well as the second meeting of the Task Group to consider the possible cooperation between the railway tracks of Kazakhstan and Iran.

The negotiations were focused on discussions of the Agreement between Kazakhstan and Iran on international automobile communication and the problems which Kazakh transporters face while transporting and exporting of cargos from Iran and Kazakhstan.

Protocol envisages the cooperation issues in the spheres of sea transport including the cooperation within the Memorandum on mutual understanding between NMSK Kazmortransflot and National Iranian Tanker company, as well as the meeting with participation of heads of ports of Iran, Aktau, Anzali and Amirabad, and shipping and transport companies.
