Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 October/ Trend , corr A. Badalova/ The European countries should display solidarity in the resolution of the financial crisis, French President Nicolas Sarkozy said at the meeting of the European Parliament aired lively by the Russian Vesti TV.
"We have a unified bank and a unified currency. We should display solidarity," Sarkozy said.
He said it is not easy to solve the problem. The European Bank should take respective measures in accord with economic principles, President said.
"A unified solution must be found in order to enable banks to fulfill their crediting functions," Sarkozy said.
The requirements and guidelines for the banks should be defined in an accurate way so that they will not break functions on risks, he said.
"We entered 21st century, but our financial institutes are institutes of 20th century," Sarkozy said.
As the financial crisis is global, the response to it should be of a global nature, French President said.
