Kazakhstan  Intends to Increase Export of Flour and Grain in Azerbaijan

Kazakhstan, Astana, 23 October / corr Trend K.Konirova / "Food contract corporation (operator of grain purchase for state reserve in Kazakhstan) intends to increase export of flour and grain to Azerbaijan," Alikhan Smailov, chairman of board of directors of KazAgro national holding, said during the first international agrarian investment forum AGROINVEST.KZ-2008, which opened in Astana on 23 October.

"We intend to increase volume of export of bread-grain and flour to Azerbaijan, which is our partner," Smailov said.

The issue of export of Kazakhstan's grain to world markets remains strategically important for the company, he said.

"Reconstruction of Aktausk marine terminal for increase of grain supplies to Iran and Transcaucasia is finished by the holding. The grain terminal was built in Baku, and another is being built in Iranian Amirabad port," he said.


In addition, Prodcorporation plans to build grain terminal in Ukraine and at the border with China.

"The grain terminals are planned to build at the border with China with the capacity of 500,000 tons per year, in the Black Sea port, in Ukraine with capacity of 1mln tons per year for further development of infrastructure," Alihan Smailov said.
