Azerbaijan Ratifies Agreement on Technical Cooperation with Germany for 2006-2007

Azerbaijan, Baku, 28 October / Trend corr. I.Khalilova / The Azerbaijani Parliament ratified an agreement on technical cooperation between governments of Azerbaijan and Germany for 2006-2007, which envisages issuing €5mln grant to the country.

The agreement was signed in Baku on 4 August in 2008.

A total of €3.4mln technical assistance will be allocated to support the private sector. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Economic Development is responsible for realization of the project. The second project envisages support of legal and juridical reforms. The German Government will allocate €1.6mln to the second project.

GTZ, the German Society for Technical Assistance was commissioned to realize these projects by the German side.

In accordance with agreement, the realized projects, purchased equipment and transport means are freed from taxes, including VAT and other state payments (duty and administrative expenditures). Moreover, the agreement envisages freeing goods from licensing, as well as their urgent customs legalization.
