IASBS Partner Status BSEC Extended

Azerbaijan, Baku, 5 November / corr Trend A.Badalova / "A partner status of the Council of International Association of  Ship-owners of Black Sea (IASBS) in the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) has been extended for two years more," Aydin Bashirov, head of organization, chief of the Azerbaijan State Caspian Sea Shipping Company (CASPAR), said at a meeting of IASBS in Baku.

The 12th meeting of IASBS Council, which was organized and founded 15 years ago, is held in Baku at the invitation of CASPAR.

"A partner status of IASBS in BSEC was granted for 3-year term and for the fifth time extended for subsequent two years (by 30 April, 2010)," Bashirov said. 

Support and development of several initiatives offered by IASBS, testify for presence of proper authority and respect to organization by OBSEC and other countries of the Black Sea region, head of CASPAR, said.

Members of the Council, their authorized representatives, councilors and experts of shipping enterprises, entering IASBS, are taking part in the gathering.

Steering bodies of the association were elected during the meeting of the Council. Aydin Bashirov, head of CASPAR, was re-elected the president of the Association for the subsequent two years and Michail Chubay, head of Ukrrechflot company, was elected vice-president.

The association's activities in connection with completion of 15-year period of its activities,

security management in shipping companies, ways to  prevent threats to ecological system of the Black sea by transport communications were considered and major work was defined for 2008-2009 during the gathering.

During the gathering the IASBS President was awarded Ph.D. diploma of the International Academy of Transport.

Next meeting of the council will be held in Odessa in September-October 2009.

IASBS is an international non-governmental organization in the sphere of marine industry with 15-year experience in organization of interaction of large shipping enterprises, developed organizational structure, established relations with port, shipbuilding and shipyard organizations.
