Food and beverage conglomerate San Miguel Corp. reports nine-month profits surged threefold from a year earlier, helped by strong performance in domestic and international beer operations, the Associated Press reported.The company said Thursday that January-September net income stood at 20.9 billion pesos ($433.6 million), compared to 7.07 billion pesos in the same period last year. Excluding gains from the sale of discontinued operations, the company's earnings rose at 7.13 billion pesos ($148million).
