Azerbaijan, Baku, November 14/ Trend , corr I. Alizade/ "The rate of living cost and need criterion will increase in 2009 to strengthen social protection of Azerbaijani population," Ziyad Samadzade, chairman of the parliamentary commission on economic policy said at the discussions over draft laws.
The need criterion will increase to AZN60 from January 1, 2009 to receive targeted social aid. This indicator makes up AZN 55 now after the last increase in July 2008.
The rate of living cost is planned to increase from AZN 64 to AZN 84 from 2008 whereas it will make up AZN 92 for able-bodied citizens and AZN 69 - for children.
Samadzade said in several years Azerbaijan will be able to ignore to examine need criterion as social and economic life in Azerbaijan is improving.
Some MPs says it is wrong to increase rate of living cost more than need criterion.
Sevinj Hasanova, deputy minister of economic development of Azerbaijan said the rate of living cost will increase by 2.5 times compared with 2002. Living cost is expected to make up AZN 84 while it totaled to AZN 35 in 2002.
Targeted social aid has been introduced in Azerbaijan since 2007 and it will increase by AZN 20, she said.
In 2009, social expenditures of the public budget is planned to increase by 24.4% to AZN 4.024bln in 2009.
