Calls of Millennium Corporation to Allocate Additional $100mln to Georgia

Georgia, Tbilisi, 21 November / corr Trend N.Kirtzkhalia/ Grigol Mgaloblishvili, Georgian prime minister and John Danilovich, general executive director of Millennium Challenges corporation signed a document on a $100mln grant on 20 November.

In accordance with the agreement, the change, envisaging allocation of additional 100mln within the frames of current program ($295.3mln), will be introduced in the document, signed in 2005, and it will increase the financial assistance, allocated by the Georgian corporation, to $395.3mln.

Georgian prime minister and general executive director of Millennium Challenge stated at a briefing that the United States renders Georgia considerable financial support to restore the economy of country, which suffered as a result of Russian aggression.

"Additional financial assistance will be used for realization of projects on development of infrastructure. We will render assistance in creation of new jobs, as it is our priority," Mgaloblishvili said.

In April 2006, the Fund of Millennium of Georgia was established by the Georgian government. It realizes projects, which are financed by the U.S. Calls of Millennium corporation in the spheres of agricultural business, regional development, municipal infrastructure, roads and power engineering.
