Pedigree Cattle Import to be Exempted from Customs Dues and Taxes in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan, Baku, 21 November / Trend , corr. U.Ismayilova /" Azerbaijan supports the idea on exemption of pedigree cattle import from costumes dues and taxes," Aydin Aliyev, the head of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan, said.

"This decision is very essential to develop cattle breeding in Azerbaijan, and therefore the Government takes these measures," Aliyev said.

The proposal to exempt pedigree cattle import from costumes dues and taxes was made by the Agriculture Ministry.

The Agriculture Ministry appealed to the Cabinet of Ministers with a request to cancel VAT on imported fodder for cattle breeding and pedigree cattle. The goal of the request is to stimulate the agricultural production in Azerbaijan and to further provide the population with local production within the State program on reliable provide of the population with foodstuff in 2008-2015, Ismat Abbasov, the Agriculture Minister, said.

At present, there are 80 largest private cattle-breeding plants in Azerbaijan. Furthermore, there are eleven regional, sixty urban and rural centres of artificial fertilization.

The structure of racy cattle is needed to be improved. For this purpose some 7,000-8,000 racy cattle is needed to purchase annually.
