Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan Sign Agreement in Transport Sphere

Turkmenistan, Ashkhabad, 28 November / corr Trend S.Kurbanov / A pack of intergovernmental agreements, including an agreement on transport sphere, was signed in Ashkhabad between Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan, two Caspian littoral countries, within the framework of the first official visit of Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, to Turkmenistan.

First of all, it concerns the opportunity to establish railway communication upon using of a ferry between Caspian ports of Turkmenbashi and Baku.

"It is new Silk Way which, I hope to be at our disposal for two years, and we all will use of it. It will be an economic effect and regional cooperation will only win," Ilham Aliyev said after signature.

Azerbaijani railway is connected with Turkey and Europe, as well as Azerbaijan will go to the Central Asia through the Caspian Sea, he said.

Turkmenistan, in its turn, is constructing a railway corridor through Iran to the countries of the Persian Gulf.
