corr. I.Khalilova/ In line with aggravation of the
world crisis, which began in the financial sector and passed into the real
field, all countries, including Azerbaijan, are concerned about its further
influence on their economies, President of the Azerbaijan Banks Association
(ABA) Eldar Ismayilov said on 10 Dec.
Global financial crisis and its possible impact on the banking sector and in
general on the economy of Azerbaijan was discussed today in Baku at the meeting
with the country's banking community. ABA was the organizer of the meeting.
Discussion is taking place with participation of representatives of the
National Bank of Azerbaijan, Ministry of Economic Development, private banking
sector, international financial institutions operating in the country,
including the World Bank and International Monetary Fund, as well as MPs.
According to Ismayilov, measures taken by European banks to break the world
crisis were discussed at the last meeting of the European Bank Association.
"During the last 15 years Azerbaijan has been focusing on the non-oil sector,
allowing the country to prepare for the crisis. Despite this, we are also
concerned about the world processes," Ismayilov said.
