Bird flue monitoring starts in Azerbaijan
Azerbaijan, Baku. Dec. 15/ Trend , S. Babayev/ "Next bird flu monitoring started in Azerbaijan on Dec. 15," Yolchu Khanvali, spokesperson for the State Veterinary Service at the Ministry of Agriculture, said on Dec. 15.
He said two-day monitoring will concern both domestic and wild birds. Monitoring will cover Absheron Peninsula, Davachi, Salyan, Lankaran and Agjabadi regions and coast line of the Caspian. The monitoring will be held by special working group of Veterinary Service at the Ministry of Ecology and Ministry of Health.
Results will be announced on Dec. 26.
The previous five monitoring held in 2008 did not reveal bird flu virus.
The State Veterinary Service held 12 monitoring in 2007 which included blood samples of over 8,000 wild and domestic birds. No virus carrier was revealed during monitoring.
