Oil companies in Azerbaijan deviate from getting permission for foreigners’ living: Head of Ministry’s Department

Azerbaijan, Baku, Dec. 17 / corr. Trend K. Zarbaliyeva/ Companies operating in the oil sector and having share in oil production deviate from getting permission on temporary living of foreigners recruited in Azerbaijan, Rauf Tagiyev, department chief of Ministry of Labor and Social Protection, said at the press conference in state migration agency on Dec. 17.

So, 4,200 migrants live in Azerbaijan whose work activity is legal. But number of migrants working illegally twice is more.

"Migrants working illegally are mainly concentrated in construction, oil sector and companies developing infrastructure projects," official said.

Appropriate information is given to the foreign companies to legalize work activity but time is needed, Arzu Ragimov, head of State Migrant agency, said at the press conference.

The number of migrants arriving in Azerbaijan to work increased for the last years, he said.

"They include citizens are from European, CIS and Asian countries. The number of Chinese citizens isn't so much to disturb us," Ragimov said.

Check up is carried out to determine the exact number of foreigners living in Azerbaijan, he said. This number will be known early 2009.
