"$2mln was sent and $23mln was received through the transfer systems supported by our Bank in this period,' says Rashad Mahilov, the non-credit retail products manager with Unibank, "Thus, the turnovers of the Bank during the past 11 months of 2008 represents an increase by 66.7% from the corresponding period of 2007".

It should be mentioned that the payment transfers that went out and came in through the Bank added up to $15mln during the same period of last year.

"We plan to take the turnovers to $30mln by the end of the current year, as compared to $17mln sent and received throughout 2007," Mahilov said.

The bank expects to earn $350-370,000 on money transfers until the end of this year, while the money transferring returns reached $180,000 last year.

The Bank supports the following six money transfer systems right now: Western Union, CONTACT, Migom, Faster, XPmoney and the Bistraya Pochta. Even though the Bank only joined Migom only in mid-2008, the Migom turnovers at Unibank are approaching $1mln already.
